Yes, rivers can flow upward!

Jay Krieger's sister Marl could not figure how a river could flow upward, until the teacher demonstrates how, using few signs in ASL. Jay wonders how much it would take to explain this same thing in English.

Exactly the reason why we should have ASL in classrooms!!

Hahaha....

The real reason why some rivers flow upward is not due to mountains or terrain, but rather due to gravity. Rivers below the Equator will flow upward no matter what (i.e. Lake Victoria in Africa) and rivers above the Equator will flow downward (i.e. Missippi River). The same basis can be explained by flushing a toliet below the equator, the water will go counterclockwise and vice versa for above the equator. This explains why we have hurricans going against the "grain" (i.e. counterclockwise). I hope this helps.

MORE! MORE! MORE!
That's why those students and other people affiliated with Galladuet is upset with the university because of its disregard for ASL (I think). I am deaf guy but never had an opportunity to attend the university yet but I KNOW THAT ASL IS MARVELOUS!!! Keep up good job! :)

Oh yeah! Many hearing people miss out ASL BIG TIME! Those who know both ASL and English express their feelings and communicate their thoughts a lot better than those who are stuck with English. See my vlog about this

Thanks for sharing! Excellent example!

True! Wow you have a keen memory of those school days! It must have had a very big impact on you to remember it. That teacher certainly was a good one and made things very clear and understandable. A good teacher is able to do that with the right kind of communication (e.g. ASL) and teaching style. Now I have experienced some teachers who used ASL, they were simply not good teachers. I don't want to base on teachers that use ASL are always good because it is not true. It takes skill and knowledge and ability to teach plus having ASL knowledge is a GREAT combination of a good teacher, in my opinion.
