Anonymous can be great!

In response to Carl Schroeder's vLog Another New Order of Deaf People: Anonymous, Jay Krieger discusses his opinions on why he believes Anonymous commenters can be good and valuable to the vBlogSphere; only when they are not trash.

I agree with you, who knows your worst enemy may have something really good to say to you. Never know!

I understand your points.. Maybe you would like see this vlog by david. Here is the link:

FYI, Ridorlive do not accept any one who use anonymous. Also, why use anonymous, can use your real name or nickname or make a name. It doesnt have to be your real name.. Just that ANONYMOUS is kind of annoying.
I am not disagree or agree with what you say but I can see your side of opinion thank you for sharing.

I am using an anonymous for myself, ha! You did great job on it! (JohnABC-Hee Haw!)

:)

Rock on... too bad my name got too well known and some, including you, have seen my face!

I'm used to being unknown in both hearing and deaf worlds... but internet is a different story.

Hmm.

Well, in respect to this vlog and argument, I'm going to post as anonymous!

:D

Welcome, as long as you do not attack a person personally but the idea itself.

Internet is freeeeeeeee!!!!!

Free the anonymous!!!

I do accept Anonymous only when they are not "junk."

drmzz said...

Interesting perspective. Freeing the biases attached to the person via anonymous mode encourage posting. It should be optional like you explained, but not abused. Right, host just delete comments if step over the line.

THANK YOU, Jay! Anonymous commenters who do NOT hurt people with their comments are OK. Of course, it'd be nice if they could leave a nickname they use regularly. But I have found I can't read anything Carl has written since I read his post that you refer to here. I'm too turned off. I'm trying to work past this because one bad post (or just one I REALLY disagree with) should not make a blogger go on my blacklist. But wow, it's not easy. Thanks for making this point, Jay.

No shit!

Pardon my ASL :)

Oscar Chacon said...

Yeah...

I understand ridorlive's viewpoint too. But like Jay said, being anonymous do give some people some very badly needed freedom to speak out their opinions (not including "junk" as Carl elaborately put it) because some people want time to develop their arguing skills.

Your message about baggage attached was very good one. That is what happen in some news reports.

Thumbs up, Jay!!

Oscar Chacon said...

Sorry, wrong word. Not elaborate, it was supposed to be eloquently. :)

Carl, I am surprised at your post here. No you were not telling the truth.

Anonymous said...

I respect anonymons' wishes for keeping their names private. Great job, Jay.

mishkazena said...

Most posters feel comfortable enough to use real names in my blog, but occasionally I get anonymous posts. I don't mind as long they address the topic. However, I don't tolerate anonymous commenters who attack and insult as these are disruptive and counterproductive

Lantana said...

There appears to be alot of PARANOID posters who sign on as anonymous. I, personally against this, the anonymous poster -- and the paranoid poster both.

Newspapers do not allow anonymous posters and with good reason. One reason is to keep out the mental deficients, the ones who are going to crawl out of the woodwork and do harm later on.

Anonymous said...

I'm no mental deficient ! The arrogance of some deaf is astounding, far more often it is a viable way, of making a valid point, perhaps many hearies are anon and playing safe ! There are spoilers and parnoids, they are deaf too. I find more than half of them are major and sensible contributors, using anon as a means to make a direct comment without the pious deaf feedbacks,a lot of deaf comment is simply boring and very repetitive, anons break it up a bit ! We need them, I agree we don't need nasties, but even that is very much personal taste too, when does personal affront become 'Deaf' affront ? THere's too much 'WE' here, not enough us, most here deign to speak for 'deaf people' they don't, they cna only speak for themselves, not even speak for the community, since we never read a 'community' response anywhere. It's just clique's.

I agree with one anonymous message about Carl's not telling the truth! I had written few anonymous messages and they never published.

I have to say that I agree with your views on anonymous issue. I consider my anonymous name is equal to "White Ghost."

I want to protect my identity. You know "White Ghost" is not a junk name but you never know it can be a trick.

We all need to make sure if we did not get the junk/spam mail. It is the same with the advisement (spell?) junk phone calls. The reason why the congress is fighting for the "Do Not Call" bill.

I predict in the future, the congress will fight to ban the "do not mail the junk/spam."

I still love your vlogs! Your'e great.

I agree with one anonnymous about Carl's not telling the truth. Since I changed my name to anonnymous, my comments I wrote has been published for the first time.

Good job, Jay!

Way to go, Jay.

Curious, what's difference if I use Thomas today, John tomorrow and Matthew on Sunday. No one even knows if it is the same person or not.

I did not know that some people don't accept the name, 'anonymous'. Interesting.

My blog, I do not care who but use judgement, that's all.

Anonymous said...

Lantana,
Decent newspapers and deaf blogs are so different because deaf bloggers have the right to smear someone's name also to mock at someone's body. For an example a blogger mocked at someone's body by showing two cartoon illustrations of chubby woman in her bathing suit and cap.
That deaf blogger was so undecent and filthy by hurting many chubby women. My mother was beautifully chubby and we loved her so. He should be thrown out as a blogger but he is so sickening popular by undecent Deaf people who agreed with his mockery. He makes me sick.

Hi
what is different between
Anonymous and nickname??
U still don't know who real person

Funny introspective about going to deaf clubs to see the "non-anonymous" comments (Toby, this is a part response, sue me?). I wonder if certain behavior of Internet chatting carries over to in-person real life situations. With Internet dating, blogging, vlogging,text-messaging, things could bleed together and certain assumptions could be made. Like this ex. - a blogger assuming I know about what happened to him that he blogged about, but I didn't know about it until a year has passed. This is an extreme example. I don't rely on the Internet for my social life and don't think the Internet should be key to it BUT, at least it is providing the deaf community a great way to socialize with the geography between all of us. I also learn through it. I know this is a different topic. Eh.

Toby Welch said...

todos la vie, YES! I will see you in court! Just kidding.

Jay, you have a interest argument about anonymous. I don't care if someone does not want to reveal his/her real name or whatsoever. I won't publish if their comment(s) is/are harsh or offending. Like, you said, "just click "delete" then it gone."

Anonymous said...

Hey Carl,

Ignore those comments from the mean-spirited annoymous who dont have anything better to do but to say hurtful things. We all deaf people love you here. I have talked to my friends about you. I told them about your vlogs. They all enjoy watching your vlogs. You are entitled to share your thinking, your anger, your feeling and so on. I love hearing them. MORE VLOGS, Please! We love you, CARL

I wrote the anonymous asl=fragile comment that Carl mentions in his anonymous comments blog.

Carl got many good and interesting vlogs, and many of us looks forward for more from him.

But I think Carl should shake off those comments that he feels hurt by. The massive attack against the PSL vlogger by other commenters(among them Carl), is part of reason I wrote the asl=fragile comment. I think it was out of properties and not a nice thing to do.

One problem with societies on internet, is that they loses some ethic rules found in real life. I am sure most of us would be much more carefull and nicer if we talked face to face to each other in the same room, without clothes. So protect yourself on internet if you feel for it, and don't let people hurt you.

Look forward to more great ASL vlogs from both Jay and Carl!

Yours

Hey there!

I have to agree with Carl. When I watched that lady who was telling about the new PSL, I was so furious, boiling hot all over my body. Thought to myself, don't you ever dare to change the ASL. LEAVE ASL alone. ASL was invented years ago.

To me, my dad will always be the HEAD of house. So, I like for the signs for males on the top of forehead. I LOVE the signs for females on the chin.

I didnt finish watching the vlog when that DUMBASS (pardon my french) lady was telling about her new PSL. OH, GROANS!!!

I can't tell you how much I hate her PSL. (SCREAMING in HORROR)

A deaf lady who hates PSL. (Screaming once again)

I am sorry but I feel that I had to send my comment about PSL twice because I am hoping that lady who was telling about PSL will read my comments.

Say NO to PSL!

Hate PSL with all of my heart!

Many deaf people are still so old fashioned thinking that males are still above females.
Time has changed from old fashioned to modern century.
Many old ASL have changed to modern ASL already.

Anonymous said...

Many modern ASL has been switching back to old ASL. Whoo hoo!

We will form a www about Say no to psl.

Hey join me in saying no to psl.

There is an UK view the Americans love to sue people on the flimsiest of pretext, as they have the most corrupt and sue-happy law system in the civilised world apparently... (So sue me lolol).

Perhaps this is one reason people prefer anon ? they don't trust other deaf not to start suing as well ?

Yours sincerely, ANON.
