Geese know something that we don't?
Among numerous "forwarded emails", Jay Krieger came across one discussing Geese that inspired him. Jay discusses its v-formation and how they work so well as a team, and tries to use its model to encourage the Deaf community do the same principles they use so well: teamwork, support, respect, value and sharing.

Well, You must be very good at observation of geese and well analogy!!! I often enjoy your vlog lately! I never realize how much could be paralled with geese and Deaf community that would be a great benefit but in reality do we have same thing what geese do? I wish it would be blessed!
Great analogy! =)
I admire your vlogs!
Solid analogy. For some reason, the idea of "geese" makes me think of the "Ducks" during DPN protest (mentioned in several books about DPN). They called upon themselves that name because they believed themselves to be of the "flock."
Perhaps it is not so far off, after all...

John: I looked up oink in Wiki and it translates to "hey buddy, get in back!". I guess youre too busy enjoying lipreading. Chuckles.
John Lestina, You're funny!
Jay- You have good analogy of geese and Deaf/HOH teamwork effort. Guess what? While I viewed your vlog, I was distracted to watch the geese flock flying from my office window this morning. What a coindenence! I never thought about V-formation. How amazing they teamed up together with the perfect shape? My assumption is that the nature calls them to coordinate in flying the air. Jay,
Teamwork effort in Deaf community is much needed!! Thanks for describing how the quacks & honks did for V-formation. That is very good example for teamwork effort.

C-
HONK!! HONK!! We will all get together in formation like the geese, in support of Deafhood and get rid of Crab Theory which causes us to fall. Crab Theory are mostly about people who are self-centered and pride...while geese are thoughtful, helpful and humbleness in their hearts, to give support. I learned something new about honking and two geese helping a tired geese. That's what we need, help one another, strengthen each other, which will make us stronger. Crab Theory wears us out...causes unnecessary strife and bitterness.
Let us all HONK HONK or maybe we should get dirty and say OINK OINK!
Your presentation reminded me of good movie called "Fly Away" and my whole family and I loved that movie. I still have it in storage cabinet. I never thought of your presentation between geese and deaf community and I admired it! WOW..
Thank you for sharing! :-)

This is the reason why I became aeronautic engineer, life of the flocks inspired me too. Imagine that the geese have smaller brain than ours and we still struggle to share leadership role and leaving to the one leader to do all of the work...head scratching! We can do better than that! Quack..Right, Jay?
Thumbs up, Deafkathy!
Jay,
Thanks for doing this piece. It has always been a favorite of mine for several years now.
I've used the "Lessons from Geese" in some of my workshops and presentations.
For those of you interested in reading the lessons on the Internet, just google it up, 'Lessons from Geese.'
Enjoy! :-)
Jay--
I gave you wrong name of movie earlier in my comment..here is "fly away home." I still think of your representation about Geese since I saw you on blog because it makes sense!
Thank you!
CJ
what are the chance of a geese being shot down by a hunter like you mentioned in your other vlog?:)
